My thoughts on Sylvia Browne
I love Sylvia Bronwe! I have almost ALL of her books, her DVD, many of her CD's, a piece from her jewlery line, an actual card written by her, a subscription to her newsletter and on and on. I enjoy listening to her on Hay House radio on Thursdays, I enjoy her Montel appearences, I even had tickets to see her live (and got the worst sinus infection of my life the day before and missed it - GRRRR) - I am a fan!
I am also a skeptic....I am a TRUE Taurus (stubborn 'ol bull) and have been a scholar in many lives. I crave truth. I am also very intuitive and well read on many religions. I don't need to to "touch and hold it" to believe it BUT...it needs to "feel" right, it has to seem logical, it has to Sing to my Soul.
So...here is my take. I think Sylvia is an AMAZING teacher, a gifted speaker,a healer and councelor, she presents interesting topics, she brings light and truth to long buried facts but a "seer" - I just don't know.....
For example, I watched her on Montel the other day (she certainly has a prescence and I love her clothing choices, usually) and decided to be as open minded as I could be - give extreme benefit of the doubt even. The first question was from a woman asking when she would find her man - she was told in 6 months, generic but possible...she was then shown an orb picture - could it have been Angels - yes, it was! (...could it have been dust - yes! says I) The bottom line is with her it is ALWAYS a visitor from the other side with a name, a story, a history, etc.... According to her ALL good things are going to happen to everyone! If only....I have NEVER heard her tell a woman "no, I'm sorry, you just are not meant to have children this go-round" or say to someone "no, I'm sorry, you have Charted a solitary path, you will just have many GREAT friends". There is a happy answer for all - so is this fortune telling or fortune cookies???? I just don't know......my spirit guide won't tell me!
I believe in a "religion" called Humanity. I believe in a "religion" of acceptance of any and all beliefs, of kindness, of serenity BUT also, of accepting consequences (or karmic justice), of seeking your own ways of thinking, of the care and love of all living things and Their innate Spirits, in doing good things just to do good things without any personal gain. I don't care if you you use an ornate statue (or MANY as I have) of a specific religious figure or a piece of bark to represent your religion - in Humanity it's all up to you. In Humanity, you can read the Kabbalah, books on Pantheism, on Wicca and blend them all to help you Grow and Love on a Spiritual level.....You could call it Kabpanicca!
The essence of this post.....trust YOUR soul, walk your YOUR spritual path, Grow, Love, Accept, in your own fashion at not the way "the book" or "the preacher" says it is to be.
With Love, in the name of Humanity BLESSED BE

Believing in karma and believing in humanity don't strike me as consistent with skepticism.
Karma would definitely fall in the category of a religious beiief that can be neither proven nor disproved.
Looking at human history to date and considering what a short time we've been on earth as a species, it seems to me that it's impossible to make a compelling case either for or against humanity. We may be en route to self destruction and an early demise. Or not. It depends on what evidence you select from a very mixed picture.
For example, if you look at the number of people killed by other people over the last couple centuries, things don't look so good. On the other hand, defeating fascism in WWII - at least for now - was a good thing. To me, the time frame is too short and the picture too mixed either to believe we're bound to make it or bound not to.
So with respect to humanity, I'm an agnostic and don't see enough evidence on one side or another to move me from that position. As a practical matter, what's much more important to me than trying to predict humanity's future is doing our personal best to make it a little better.
Paul, you bring up some very compelling issues (I appreciate that) and I think your idea of just living to make today "your personal best" is so true and a great idea! But, I think as a society we CRAVE to "predict" or "know" what is going to happen to us as is evident with resurrgance of the New Age movement of the last century.
People spent millions of dollars on psychic readings, Occult items and such in an effort to see the future. I believe that there is CONCLUSIVE proof of a life after death and I do believe that there is also an overwhelming and universal belief in as you sow, so shall you reap - karma! Simply balancing the good and bad...
I really appreciate your thoughts! Thanks for commenting!
